Annaba Institute Holds Conference on Journalism and Fighting Corruption
Annaba Cultural and Media Institute, dependent to Grand Ayatollah Shirazi’s Office in holy Karbala hosted a conference under the title of “Journalism and Fighting Corruption” at Thursday, December 29, 2019. This conference hosted some journalists from Maysan province, as well as members of high commission of elections, some members of the parliament, academics, legal experts, social activists, and members of the press.
Ali Taliqani was the first speaker of this conference. In his speech, he said:
“This conference is intended to understand the challenges and dangers faced by the members of the press, especially after that some complaints were filed against several journalists who spoke against corruption.” He also added: “The press has made many sacrifices in Iraq; there are many of them who were martyred on the battlefields or in terrorist attacks. Their works has no limits and no restrictions.”
Sheikh Morteza Maash, the director of Annaba Conferences also said:
“I thank all members of the press. They have made many sacrifices and faced martyrdom to complete their sacred duties as reporters. This is the reason why media work is considered one of the most demanding jobs in the world. November 2 marks The International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists; nonetheless, we see that there is an increasing rate of criminal and terrorist assaults against journalists around the world.”
