The Alqami Hero Community in Basra Organizes March of Candles

Each year in the evening of the Day of Ashura, the Batal Alqami Community organizes a mourning march in the City of Faw, in Basra province, where hundreds of Shia believers hold burning candles, and march in the city to offer their sympathies to Lady Zaynab, peace be upon her, and mourn the heart wrenching tragedies of Day of Ashura. It is worth mentioning that lighting candles is an ancient custom that commemorates the evening of the Day of Ashura, also known as the Lonely Night.
