Iraqi Shias Prepare for Ashura Rituals in Holy Qom

On the night before the Day of Ashura, the Iraqi Shias living in Holy Qom commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Husayn and his loyal companions, by organizing a procession, which took to the streets and headed to the shrine of Lady Fatima Masoumeh (peace be upon her) in this City. Large numbers of Shia believers and lovers of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) as well as some members of the Office of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi participated in this mourning procession. Mashq, is a traditional and symbolic ritual which signifies the Shias’ readiness to sacrifice their lives for the sake of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him). It is worth noting that a large portion of the participants in this ritual were youngsters.
