Members of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi’s Office Host Mourners in Karbala, Iraq
On the thirteenth of Muharram, which coincided with the burial anniversary of the martyrs in Karbala in 61 AH, the city of holy Karbala witnessed the commemorations of Bani Assad tribe, in which tens of thousands of people participated.
The mourners were welcomed by the clerics and members of the Grand Jurist’s representatives in Qibla Street, near the holy Shrine of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Each year on the thirteenth of Muharram, women from the Bani Assad tribe arrive in Karbala to grieve the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his loyal companions on their burial anniversary. Further, the men of Bani Assad tribe enter Karbala and mourn the martyrdom of the master of martyrs Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
Bani Assad was the tribe to bury the martyrs of Karbala on the 13th of Muharram in 61 AH.
